Letter of Amici dei Bambini to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child

AiBi has sent a letter to the Geneva UN Committee on the Rights of the Child- a body that has to verify the State's compliance with the 1989 UN Convention, already ratified by Italy - to denounce the delay of Italy in facing the ratification process of the 1996 Hague Convention, an act against articles 3,4,5 and 20 of the UN CRC Convention.

Rise in African children accused of witchcraft

An increasing number of children are being accused of witchcraft in parts of Africa, the UN children's agency says. Orphans, street children, albinos and the disabled are most at risk. A new UNICEF report warns that children accused of being witches - some as young as eight - have been burned, beaten and even killed as punishment.

Who are Out-of-Family Children?

All those minors who are orphans or separated from their biological family who temporary live in residential facilities or in foster-family conditions and who therefore run the risk of social exclusion.

The OFC condition must be a temporary condition and this provisional status should be granted by placing the minor in a stable family context as soon as possible.
