Eurochild calls for stronger emphasis on children’s rights and social inclusion in the future PROGRESS Programme

Eurochild drafted specific amendments to the new legislative proposal for a Programme on Social Change and Innovation, one of the regulations under discussion in the framework of the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2014-2020.

PROGRESS will no longer be a stand-alone programme, it will be joined with EURES and the European Progress Microfinance Facility under the egis of the new EU Programme for Social Change and Innovation. Eurochild is worried that due to this regrouping of instruments and the current economic priorities within the EU, the focus of the overall EU Programme points in the direction of employment and labour market policy. Social protection and inclusion would clearly need more emphasis, which also allow European Networks like Eurochild to promote the rights and welfare of children. We also advocate that children's rights need a higher recognition and should therefore be mainstreamed throughout the entire Programme.

Eurochild will use this document mainly to target Members of the European Parliament in their discussions on the issue in the relevant committees.
