A new web site to talk about Out-of-Family Children
Monday, 22 December 2008 09:01
CHILDOUT.ORG is a space for mutual learning, close examination, studies and researches aimed at supplying information and tools to promote the rights of Out-of-Family Children (or OFC) and the network of associations and institutions which take care of them. OFC are exposed to a high risk of social exclusion.

CHILDOUT.ORG derives from a project co-financed by the European Commission "Social Inclusion for Out-of-family Children and Young People in Public Childcare", included in the programme "Community Action Programme to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion 2002-2006".

The project involves 5 European countries and compares the protection systems dedicated to childhood of Italy, France, Bulgaria, Rumania and Latvia. Then, activities were widened thanks to an additional project supported by the European Commission "Life after Institutional Care. Equal Opportunities and Social Inclusion for young people and promotion of best practices" regarding the project called "Progress, the EU Programme for Employment and Social Solidarity 2007-2013".

The project, aimed at verifying the situation of young care leavers who have left child protection services, can be considered the natural continuation of the previous one. In both cases, the group leader is the Amici dei Bambini Association.
