Observatory on abandonment

The Observatory of CHILDOUT.ORG derives from the need to achieve the targets of the project. The Observatory deals with the phenomenon of abandonment and its possible solutions, through the creation of two cultural working areas:

1. STUDY & RESEARCH AREA: it is focused on the implementation of monitoring activities and multi-disciplinary specialized analyses of the phenomenon at international level. CHILDOUT.ORG collects documents published on specific topics as adoption, foster care, care-leavers and children without parental care.

The Permanent and Multi-disciplinary Observatory includes several international experts and professionals who have been committed to studying this phenomenon for years, according to five main analytical investigation fields:

1.      legal-legislative

2.      psychological

3.      sociological-anthropological

4.      pedagogical-educative

5.      political-economic.

The purpose of the Observatory is to collect, analyze, compare the scientific results obtained on the single topic at international level, and develop new precincts for reflection and investigation, through the processing and the supply of studies and research on an international scale. Concerning this, the Observatory is supported by an International Network of Research Antennas, already in place and operative in 21 countries all over the world.

2.  INFORMATION & MAKING AWARE AREA: it is focused on spreading the specialized studies carried out in order to stimulate and increase society’s awareness of this phenomenon and its responsibility for it. This Department is engaged in three areas:

-         Events area (meetings, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, etc.);

-         Editorial area (publishing of books, periodical magazines, Website); and

-         Campaign areas (contests in schools, media-related ventures, etc.).
